Course content
|
Financial Markets and their structure. Money markets, investment instruments. Capital markets and their functions, structure, Czech capital market. Structure of the capital market, activity of market players. Indicators for evaluation of state and development of a capital market, stock indices. Regulation of capital markets, state supervision activity. Securities, investment instruments, their classification and types. Shares, share issues, special share operations, bonds, special types of bonds. Profit participation certificates, sale a redemption of unit certificates. Exchange and exchange transactions, securities trading, regulated and unregulated markets. Commodity markets, commodity exchanges and commodity trading. Real asset market, real asset trading and investment opportunities. Currency markets, trading on the FOREX.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the lecture is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the function, structure and regulation of financial and capital markets, including the investment opportunities they provide to investors.
The student who has successfully completed the course is able to: explain the functioning of the financial markets and their structure; divide financial market according to certain aspects; characterize the money market and its investment opportunities; explain functioning of a capital market and stock exchange trading principles; characterize the conditions and specifics of the issue of securities; characterize capital market players; use investment instruments in economic experience; explain the importance of the market for real assets and their impact on other markets, including the possibility of trading with real assets; explain the progress and conditions of foreign exchange trading on foreign exchange markets; explain the purpose of financial markets; characterize individual investment instruments and markets. The student who has successfully completed the course is: orientate in the investment environment, financial and capital markets; distinguish types of investment instruments and the progress of stock exchange transactions; orientate in commodity markets and the possibilities of trading with different commodities; compare and analyze investment instruments according to investment criteria; understand and interpret investment recommendations and decision-making in investment choice; identify advantages and disadvantages, including the comparison of investment for beginning investors; evaluate information and data from the investment environment; analyze investment recommendation. The student who has successfully completed the course is able to: understand functioning of financial and capital markets; provide and to communicate clearly about investment opportunities in the markets including the formulation of their own opinions to professional and retail investors.

Credit: elaboration of seminar work. Exam: written, oral or distance, the required minimum pass is 65%.
