Course content
|
The division of labor (Smith) and teleological concept of the structure of the economy (Englis). Sector (industry)classification - statistical, purpose built. Historical development of sectoral and industry structure of the world, continents, teh ČR. Localization factors and evaluation of concentration and specialization of industries. Regional impacts by type of industry. Analysis of the selected branch, according to Porter's five forces model, its regional impacts. (Primary, secondary, tertiary, quartiary sector, the interaction of private and public sectors, traditional and network industries, industrial market structure; selected industries.) Sectoral innovation and competitiveness. Prediction of ?ndustry development as a means of saturation current and future needs.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal is to acquire knowledge on the sectoral (industry) structure of regions, the methods of its analysis, the influence of lokalization factors in the sector development, and the extent and method of influence by sectoral structure on regional development.
Student completing the course will develop their analytical skills with the ability to make rational founded judgments, and develop view of its implementation within the regional management process.

Prerequisites
|
The course uses knowledge of economics; is loosely based on the economic history and courses on business economics at the undergraduate level.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment
To pass the course is to be solved a case study. The credit is preceded by group discussions on selected topics.
