Course content
Regional sciences - introduction. Settlement structure. Settlement. Theory of region. Regional development. Regional policy. Regional structure of the Czech Republic. Socio-economic characteristic of a micro-region.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with essentials of regional sciences and micro-regional development as a whole. It deals with the study of spatial features, processes and relations. The aim of the course is further micro-regional aspect with appeal for regional identity development.
Students will understand basic terms - regional sciences, region, micro-region etc. and further society organization and settlement. They will acquire global overview of spatial features and processes running in our conditions with appeal for micro-regional aspects.
Prerequisites
Presumption of the registration on this subject is knowledge of geographic disciplines on the level of secondary school.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

The assignment conditions: 75 % of attendance, completion of submitted tasks, acceptance of seminar work. The examination consists of written and oral part.
