Theories of regional development, its origin and development. Main economic theories and its influence on regional development theories. Neoclassical and neo-liberal regional development theories. Structuralistic approaches. Critical realistic approaches. Institutional approaches and contemporary regional policy period.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to present theoretical approaches in regional development. The understanding of the historical evolution can help to better understand conterporary regional policy.
Student is able to identify basic hisotrical regional theories. Theoretical basement is the foundation to understand conterporary regional development policy of the EU and of the Czech Republic.

The assignment conditions: active participation in class with at least 75% attendance, completion of submitted tasks, and successful completion of the written test (i.e. to get at least 60% of the points available).
