Course content
Urbanism - introduction, terms, theory. Development of towns before 19th century. Development of towns after 19th century. Urban composition. Settlement organization, function of housing. Function parts of the settlement - amenities and production. Transport and technical infrastructure at the settlement level. Greenery in the settlement. Urban planning - theory, terms, legislative. Types of town-planning documents. Process of the creation of town-planning documents. Urban economics. Formation of landscape and country settlements. Settlement reconstruction.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire necessary theoretical knowledge in the field of space-organizational territorial aspects - especially settlements (towns and villages) and introduce sciences dealing with these problem, ie. urbanism and urban planning. The course deals with settlement development and its functional, spatial and operational context.
Students will be able to solve partial problems connected with spatial territory organization in the sphere of application spatial planning instruments of the territorial planning.

The exam is granted upon completion of the following conditions: completion of the seminar paper on a given topic and passing the written test.
