Course content
Basic concepts, data and its quality, information and its definition, information system, system, Boulding's hierarchical classification of systems. Classification of information systems. Elements and architecture of information systems Information system life cycle. Methodologies of information systems development, MMDIS. Requirements for information systems. Functional analysis and process modelling as a basis for requirements specification. Quality of information systems and its assessment, quality models. Methods of information system acquisition. Security of information systems, security threats, security policy.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of information systems and their life cycle, with particular emphasis on the analysis phase and requirements specification. The course also introduces selected aspects of information systems, primarily data quality, software quality, and the quality of an information system as a whole, as well as information system architectures, relevant legal considerations, and selected information security issues.

Assessment methods and criteria

Assignment: participation in the exercises, correct processing of the assigned tasks in the exercises, and preparation of the project according to the assignment and its defence. Examination: consists of a written and an oral part, the condition for participation in the oral part is the achievement of 65% of points in the written part. Details are in Moodle.
