Course content
Basic principles of remote sensing History of remote sensing and image processing Spectral characteristics of selected types of surfaces in different parts of the spectrum Visual image interpretation Characteristcs of digital image (radiometric, spectral, spatial and time resolution) Infrared sensing Thermal sensing Microwave and lidar sensing Preprocessing of image (radiometric, atmospheric and geometric corection) Image Enhancement (radiometric, spatial and spectral enhancement) Image classification (supervised and unsupervised, postclassification processing) Change detection in satellite data Earth resource satellites Application of remote sensing and image interpretation

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Methods of individual activities, Laboratory work
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is the presentation of advanced methods of processing data from remote sensing. The course is focused on practical phase of data processing from remote sensing.
Students will be introduced to basic and advanced methods of image processing. Student will be able to decide on the suitable use of these methods.
Prerequisites
Basic skills in ArcGIS for Desktop.
