Course content
Font development. Font classification. DTP software. Pre-print preparations. Key concepts in DTP. Printing methods. System calibration. Regimes - colour administration. Graphical formats. Screening. Large-scale document preparation. Printing marks. Document creation technological chain. Font sizes, sections and modification. Working with selected programming products.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide introduction to computer typography, focusing on the sequence of activities in designing large- scale text and mixed documents, as well as the document´s esthetical appearance. The course provides an introduction to the concept of working with the InDesign, Publisher and Photoshop programmes, and summarises the basic principles for processing large-scale documents.
Students will learn how to effectively work with products widely used in practice and will be able to create and edit different types of materials or to prepare a presentation at a suitable level.
Prerequisites
Basic skills in PC utilization and MS Word utilization.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Discussion, Systematic monitoring

Assignment: successfully elaborated tasks, written test (at minimum 60 %) and successful defence of a project. Detailed information will be provided during the first lecture and in Stag.
