Course content
Introduction to constitutional law and political science. State system and form of government in historical development. State in international community. State establishment a forms of government; state power; sovereignty; political science and constitutional law Sources of constitutional law, constitutional order, relationship to international law Democracy, separation of powers, the rule of law Development of the constitutional system of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic Legislative Power executive Power judicial Power Constitutional Court review of the constitutionality Human rights 1: General Introduction, basis, classification Human Rights 2: right to life, personal liberty, human dignity, protection of property Human rights 3: political rights, economic, social and cultural rights, the right to judicial protection

Learning outcomes
The course deals with essentials of Theory of the State and describes in more detail the Czech constitutional law. The attention is paid to actual issues of the EU constitutionalization.
Students will be able to use properly basic politics and constitutionalist terms and solve concrete problems connected with claiming fundamental legal rights.

The assignment is granted upon completion of the following conditions: completion and presentation of the seminar paper and passing the final test.
