Course content
Relation nature-economic activity - population, development of environmental protection strategy, sustainable development, Agenda 21. The concept of environment like infrequent and common good, external effects and possibilities if their internalization. The structure of environmental policy instruments, principles of their behavior. Direct (administrative) instruments, legal regulations of environmental protection in EU and in Czech Republic. Indirect (economic) instruments and their behavior. Negotiable emission permits. Bargaining techniques. Indirect (economic) instruments used in ČR. Charges for protection of air, water, land, mineral treasure and for storage of waste. The behavior of this charges. Financing of environmental care, role of public administration in sustainability efforts. The appreciation of natural resources (nonmarket appreciation, the influence of time). The possibilities of environmental damage evaluation. The dilemma of investment effectiveness. Multicriterial valuation. Environmental management systems and their standardization. Live cycle assessment of product, ecolabeling, eco audit, env. profile.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is offering knowledge about impacts and interdependences of anthropogenic activities in the territory and possible solutions for a sustainable development. Represented are theoretical pieces of knowledge about the behavior of direct connections and fed-backs in the system of environment, population, and economy, instruments of environmental policy, economical solutions, and internalization of external costs in environmental protection.
Student will be able make a structure of most basic environmental problems, which he could find in the public administration sector as well as private sector. He will be able to orientate oneself in environmental and economic interdependences by using of recoverable energy sources.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of micro and macroeconomy, masic knowledge of management.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Examination is granted upon writting test, attending seminars and submitting paper.
