Course content
Essential terms of the system of insurance, leagl entities. Sources, the broad logic and related fields of the insurance law. Insurance and reinsurance activities, sharing of insurance hazards. Insurance act, running business in the system of insurance. Insurance as a contractual legal relationship; Insurance Contract. Compulsory insurance. Liability insurance. Insurance in relation to financial products. Personal life insurance. Act on insurance intermediaries and on independent loss adjusters. Insurance intermediaries, agents and brokers. Supervision and control in the system of insurance, registers.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with insurance legal regulations in the Czech legal system as well as with appropriate EU regulations. The course focuses on the information about private and public legal norms regulating the insurance and reinsurance system. Students are also introduced to the relevant practices of the courts. Students will be able to analyse and evaluate the impact of appropriate legal norms on the practice.
Student shall learn essential legal terms which are relevant to insurance and he/she shall acquire a broad knowledge of czech insurance law. He/she will be able to apply the law.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment

The assignment is granted upon completion of the following conditions: attendance at seminars and completion of the essay on a given topic. The examination is written.
