Course content
The economic and social cohesion and its place among the other EU policies. The rules and principles, the reasons for the implementation of ESC policy at EU level. Institutional system of ESC policy in the European Union. Decision-making process. Stages of development ESC policy I (6 founding countries, Great Britain, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Greece). Stages of developmentESC policy II (Austria, Sweden, Finland, enlargement 2004, 2007, 2013). The objectives of regional policy, their evolution, covered regions, the criteria for inclusion, territorial statistical units I. The objectives of regional policy, their evolution, covered regions, the criteria for inclusion II. Funding for regional policy, development, present situation, Structural Funds, the Cohesion Fund, the EU budget. Application of regional policy in the Czech Republic, organizational and administrative system.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the concept of regional policy of the European Union, to clarify application of the RP of the EU onto specific euroregions and acquaint with their regional development.
Student will well informed about Regional Policy Applied by European Union. He will understand conception of Policy of economic a social cohesion, Structural Funds, Cohesion Fund, Aims of the RP, NUTS and other special terms out of this terminology. Student will be skilled in regional policy methods and will be able to apply it in practice. For this purpose he will know how to select relevant data and choose relevant method for their assorting. Results and knowledge he will know to construe.

Written examination, Student performance assessment, Work-related product analysis

The assignment is granted upon completion of the following conditions: attendance at seminars, completion and presentation of the seminar paper. Examination granting is conditioned by passing the final written or oral test.
