The seminar consists of a series of presentations (of pre-circulated texts) by researchers from UPa as well as foreign invitees, focusing on topics in ethics and political philosophy. Adequate space for seminar discussion follows.
The scope: topics in practical philosophy in historical authors (from Ancient philosophy to 20th century); systematical problems of practical philosophy esp. in the context of the analytical or Anglophone tradition (normative ethics, theory of emotions, metaethics, moral psychology, conceptions of justice and political authority, etc.); "applied" and actual topics (bioethics, animal ethics, ethical aspects of the phenomena such as racism, discrimination, violence, etc.); interdisciplinary openness in approach (esp. towards humanities and social science).
The seminar is NOT suitable as an elective course for students who cannot participate in the discussion of the seminar topics (philosophical) in English.
