Zásady pro vypracování
In the opening chapters of the BP theories of gender roles, especially in the black community, should be defined. Important African-American social issues and events of the first decades of the 20th century should be outlined, for example in the works of W.E.B. Du Bois. Pertinent biographical information on Hurston and a short overview of her important works should be featured. A short history of the Harlem Renaissance should be traced, including brief sketches of important works and authors. A brief summary of the plot, characters and style of writing of Their Eyes Were Watching God should be described. Using the tools in the first chapters, issues of gender roles and race should be analyzed in Their Eyes Were Watching God - this should be the longest and most important part of the BP. Finally the book's place in the historical context of the end of the Harlem Renaissance and in the overall canon of American literature should be emphasized; later works and authors who were influenced by Hurston and the Harlem Renaissance may also be included.
