V diplomové práci jsou analyzovány tři dětské knihy, které obsahují hlavní postavu s autismem, a to A Friend like Simon, Leah´s Voice a The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

V úvodu práce studentka uvede problematiku handicapu, podrobněji charakterizuje autismus a nastíní historii zobrazování handicapů (a autismu specificky) v anglicky psané literatuře pro děti různých věkových kategorií.
Jádrem práce bude analýza zvolených děl (A friend like Simon Kate Gaynorové, Leah's voice Lori Demoniaové a The curious incident of the dog in the night-time Marka Haddona, případně další), v níž se diplomantka soustředí na způsob zobrazení autistické poruchy a prostředky, jimiž je autismus přiblížen dětskému čtenáři.
