Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou detektivní prózy v kontextu viktoriánské éry, zejména díly E. A. Poea a A. C. Doylea. Práce zkoumá, jak oba autoři přispěli k vývoji detektivního žánru. Teoretická část se věnuje historickému a kulturnímu kontextu viktoriánské doby a také vývoji detektivní prózy. Praktická část analyzuje témata městského a venkovského prostředí v dílech Studie v šarlatové, Podpis čtyř a Vraždy v ulici Morgue. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována tématům vědeckým a technologickým pokrokům tehdejší doby, které Holmes a Dupin používají při řešení zločinů. Práce rovněž srovnává literární styly Poea a Doylea, jejich přístupy k vyprávění a tematické zaměření.

This master's thesis analyses detective fiction in the context of the Victorian era, focusing particularly on the works of E. A. Poe and A. C. Doyle. The thesis examines how both authors contributed to shaping the detective genre. The theoretical part is dedicated to the historical and cultural context of the Victorian period and the development of detective fiction. The practical part analyses themes of urban and rural settings in the works A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, and The Murders in the Rue Morgue. Attention is shifted to the theme of contemporary scientific and technological advancements used by Holmes and Dupin in solving crimes. The thesis also compares the literary styles of Poe and Doyle, their narrative approaches and thematic focus.

Práce bude obsahovat historicko-kulturní charakteristiku období druhé poloviny 19. století, především akcentující relevantní aspekty dále diskutované v analýze primárních zdrojů. Teoretický rámec bude věnován populární, žánrové literatuře, jejímu dobovému vymezení vůči literatuře kanonické a především charakteristice žánru detektivní prózy. Literární analýza zvolených primárních zdrojů bude pracovat s vybranými tématy a motivy, jejichž zpracování bude zasazeno do žánrového i dobového kontextu a porovnáno u různých autorů.
Zásady pro vypracování
