Presented dissertation thesis is devoted to the study of nanocrystalline oxides with garnet-related structure containing trivalent cations of rare earths. The chosen host material is Yb3Ga5O12 with the use of Er3+ or Ho3+ dopants in order to achieve intense photoluminescence emission from the visible to the near-infrared region when excited by a 980nm laser. The results of the presented thesis are divided into three main parts.
