Course objectives:
The aim of this course is to provide an interdisciplinary outline of the most important methods that were and are used in the study of history. Attention will be drawn especially to history as a piece of text. Quantitative methods, methods involving the use of visual sources, etc, will be considered. Also of concern will be the penetration of other disciplines into the historian's thought processes and, therefore, the origin of "borderline fields": historical sociology, the history of art or thought.
Requirements on student
The examination will take the form of an oral exam. Students will be admitted to the examination after passing the MHIPS course. They will bring a list of at least 10 titles.
