Course objectives:

To acquaint students the concrete technology, constructions made of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete.

Content
|
1. Basic terminology, classification of concrete. 2. Concrete constituent (aggregates, cement, water, additives, admixtures), design of fresh concrete constituent with regard to various degrees of environmental influence. 3. Testing of fresh concrete (air content, consistency determination) and testing of hardened concrete (destructive, non-destructive tests). 4. Examples of structural and load-bearing elements made of plain concrete and reinforced concrete (frame constructions of halls, high-rise buildings, storage tanks, retaining walls). 5. Technology of execution of reinforced concrete, pretensioned prestressed and posttensioned concrete. 6. Working diagrams of concrete including working diagrams of concrete reinforcement and active reinforcement. 7. Idealization of construction and calculation models. 8. Overview of short-term and long-term preload losses. 9. Constructive principles of reinforcement of plain concrete and reinforced concrete elements (vertical, horizontal elements). 10. Principles of design of plain concrete and reinforced concrete elements (vertical, horizontal elements). 11. Calculation and constructive principles of foundation reinforced concrete structures. 12. Principles of design of horizontal structures of prestressed concrete (pretensioned prestressed and posttensioned statically certain structures). 13. Ultimate limit states, serviceability limit states, theoretical considerations of section failure (reinforcement failure, concrete crushing).
