Course objectives:
|
English course CEFR B1P prepares students to passing an exam at level CEFR B1P. The course focuses on various communicative needs of students developing language skills such as reading and listening comprehension, writing (different types of texts), it also supports orientation in natural communicative situations and when using idioms. Students will be familiar with the systems of English tenses and their basic use in everyday situations. Texts and audio materials work with factual and abstract contexts.

Requirements on student
|
Written test (70% at least). Parts of the test: grammar, listening, and reading comprehension.
80% attendance will be required and regularly checked.
The use of AI is prohibited in qualification and individual papers and in the outputs that form the basis for the assessment of the course. The use of AI is only permitted in accordance with the teacher's assignment for completing a particular task.
In the case of distance/hybrid teaching, students continue to follow the course schedule, actively participate in and at a specified time distance/hybrid teaching provided through the electronic teaching system MS Teams, carry out and check assignments published on the STAG, communicate with the teacher by e-mail, MS Teams, Skype, or telephone.

Prerequisites - other information about course preconditions |
Knowledge of English at level B1 at least.
At the beginning of semester, students can be tested and on the basis of the entrance test results, they can be redeployed to the course of a different language level according to CEFR. |
Competences acquired |
Students will acquire ability of wider use of tenses, gain a complete grammar review, learn how to use phrases and phrasal verbs. They will gain the ability to quote and express themselves fluently. After the term, their knowledge will be sufficient enough to hold a common conversation in everyday situations. |
