Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to prepare students for specialized care of patients with selected infectious and dermatovenerological diseases.

Requirements on student

Fulfillment of mandatory participation in lectures and exercises. Completion of a written test.

Content
|
Skin diseases (etiology, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, diet therapy, complications, prevention, current trends in treatment). Infectious diseases ( etiology, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, vaccination, diet therapy, complications, prevention, current trends in therapy, procedure for suspected infectious diseases, hygiene and anti-epidemic regime).
Specialized nursing care for patients with dermatovenerological diseases: physical examination by a nurse, assessment of the patient's needs, determination of care problems. Nursing intervention plan. Education in regimen measures, possibilities of implementation in patients with dermatovenerological diseases. Practical examples. Specialized nursing care of patients with infectious disease: physical examination by a nurse, assessment of patient needs, determination of care problems. Nursing intervention plan. Education plan and implementation options for patients with infectious diseases of the GIT, nervous system. HIV/AIDS, etc. Counselling activities. Barrier nursing care plan, disposal of biological and contaminated material, quarantine measures. Reporting of infectious diseases. Legislation.

Competences acquired |
Students learn the etiology, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, diet therapy, complications and prevention of selected diseases. Based on theoretical knowledge, students are able to provide specialized nursing care for these patients, including providing a physical examination by a nurse, assessing the patient's needs, and determining the care problems. Students are able to plan nursing interventions, educate on routines, and provide barrier nursing care.
