Course objectives:
|
The objective of the course is to present the basic overview of anthropological methodology. Students will be introduced to the terminology, to the main sources of inspiration of current anthropology and to basic anthropological questions. They will acquire knowledge of basic anthropological methods and techniques of data collection and its processing. They will learn how to apply the basic methods and techniques of anthropological research.

Requirements on student
|
Attendance at the lectures is expected. Course will be concluded by a written exam. Attendance at the seminars is required, study of set texts and discussion and fulfilling set tasks.

Social sciences and their characteristics in scientific enquiry.
Important historical moments of the qualitative research.
Methodology of classic social/cultural anthropology.
Changes in the approach of social/cultural anthropology.
Ethics.
Observation (participant observation,direct observation, indirect and hidden observation).

Competences acquired |
Students will acquire practical experience with a process of an ethnographic fieldwork, epistemology, analysis and representation. While working on their research projects, students will adopt critical thinking and anthropological imagination.
