Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to guide the students in their work on diploma thesis, concluded by submission and defence.
|
Requirements on student
|
The credit certifies that the student attended classes/consultations and submitted his/her thesis in time. Specific instructions on the organization of the course and on credit requirements are provided by teacher at the beginning of the term.

Content
|
The course "Diploma thesis" includes classes on organization and formal requirements related to production and submission of a diploma thesis.
Course outline:
- Rules for writing and submission of a diploma thesis at the University of Pardubice
- Formal requirements on a diploma thesis, text formatting in MS Word
- Citing and bibliography
- Preparation for thesis defence
- Instructions on organization of final exams and thesis defence
In addition, the course also comprises the proper work on a diploma thesis. Each students chooses his/her own thesis topic from a list provided by the department following relevant regulations; it is also possible to specify a topic based on the student's proposal. Each student works individually on his/her thesis under the guidance of a supervisor. The student is expected to consult the work with the supervisor and follow the supervisor's instruction and the thesis assignment. Each student defends his/her thesis at the final exams.

It is assumed that the students are equipped with computer skills adequate to the level of Master's study.
It is assumed that the students have technical knowledge related to the topics of their thesis, based on technical courses taught in the study programe. It is assumed that the students are capable of extending this knowledge by individual study. |

Students leaving the course are capable of producing a thesis or technical report of a highly professional level, including graphical appendices and presentation of the report. |
