Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to an overview of methods of interactive statistical data processing in healthcare on a computer. The course includes individual problem solving tasks from healthcare practice using statistical software called STATISTICA.

Content
|
Quantitative research and its design, IT tools. Operationalization of variables, validity, and reliability in statistics. Descriptive epidemiological methods and studies. Exploratory analysis of one-dimensional data. Statistical testing of numerical data (parametric and non-parametric tests). Statistical testing of nominal data. Questionnaire surveys and evaluation of collected data. Summary of principles for statistical data processing in the context of nursing and healthcare in general.
Introduction to working with STATISTICA software. Practicing exploratory analysis. Statistical testing of numerical data by parametric and non-parametric tests. Statistical testing of nominal data. Preparation for statistical data processing within the thesis, use of IT tools.

In addition to the methodology of data analysis, students also learn the principles and rules for data interpretation in clinical and practical use. |
