Course objectives:
|
The aim of the lessons is to introduce to basic constructional elements using especially for transport means and equipment, to explain their properties and function principles and to teach students to perform necessary calculations associated with machinery design and material selection.

Requirements on student
|
The course examination is determined in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations UPa.

Content
|
1. Strength and fatigue control of machine parts - static failure, fatigue failure, time-varying loads
2. Solution of curved beams.
3. Dimensioning of beam constructions and frames.
4. Calculation of statically indeterminate constructions (application of Castigliano's theorem, using of the three-moment theorem).
5. Coil springs - design, stiffness calculations, strength calculations, characteristics.
6. Torsion springs - construction, calculation of stiffness, strength, characteristics.
7. Leaf springs - calculation of stiffness, strength, characteristics.
8. Air suspension - theoretical calculation of stiffness, characteristics.
9. Rubber spring elements - calculation of a spring loaded by compres force, shear, stiffness, strength, characteristics.
10. Spur gears - calculation of strength and service life, gearing correction.
11. Bevel (Straight and Spiral) and worm gears - dimensional parameters, design, kinematics.
12. Flanged connectionsts and gaskets - construction, strength and fatigue.

Competences acquired |
After completing the course the student controls the issue of machine parts used in the field of transport machinery and equipment in terms of design, materials and technology, assembly and disassembly. It can analyze the external effects acting on the components and these can then be properly dimensioned. |
