Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with selected methods of risk quantification, analysis, evaluation and selected risk management tools.
|
Requirements on student
|
The assignment conditions: attendance at the lessons (75% of lessons at least) completion of tasks submitted.
The examination: completion of the written test (i.e. to get at least 60% of the points available) is needed to attend the oral form of examination.

Introduction, definition of basic terms and relevant legislation.
The role of human factor in risk issues and reliability analysis of human factor.
Sources od risks, hazard identification and classification of risk.
Quantification of risks and analysis.
Use of mathematical apparatus for solving problems in the area of risk and reliability analysis.
Risk management with emphasis on decision making.
Risk management system and approaches to risk reduction.
Business continuity management.
Use of financial analysis in risk management.
The issue of reliability in risk management and reliability systems.

The knowledge of the basic principles of security and protection of population, financial analysis and economics would be a benefit for success of this course. |
Competences acquired |
A student, who has successfully completed the course, knows:
- explain the nature of basic methods and tools of risk analysis;
- distinguish between different types of risk reduction strategies, compare them with each other and characterize its limits;
- list important legislative and non-legislative sources that are relevant for risk analysis and management;
- explain the position of the human factor in risk management;
- explainthe basic principles of business continuity management;
- list and explain basic risk management approaches in terms of the reliability analysis.
A student, who has successfully completed the course, is skilled enough to:
- search, organize and interpret information relevant to risk analysis;
- apply some basic methods of risk analysis;
- use the financial reports for estimating the the potential risks associated with the financial condition of the organization.
A student, who has successfully completed the course, is able to:
- interpret the results of risk analysis and apply them in a broader context of management;
- independently and responsibly design the possible risk management strategies a make a qualified decision;
- coordinate the risk analysis team and hold the responsibility for its results;
- independently acquire further professional knowledge, skills and competences based on practical experience and its evaluation, but also by independent study of theoretical knowledge in the field.
