Course objectives:

The subject provides students the knowledge of basic business activities in manufacturing and service units. It learns students how to understand both general and specific context of business operations with emphasis on ensuring passive and in particular active elements.

Competences acquired |
The student who has successfully completed the subject can explain the factors influencing the organization of a company;
explain the role and importance of organizational documents in the company; to distinguish between the concepts of authority, responsibility, competence and delegation; explain the links between the company organization, its tasks and human resources of the company, explain the criteria of organizational formation; list the types of organizational structures, describe the reasons for their creation; explain the organization of pre-production, production and post-production phases; describe modern types of organizational structures; explain the difference between lean production and lean administration; distinguish between joint and specific business activities; to explain the concepts of mission and scope of services; distinguish the core business (core) from secondary activities; to describe the organization of departments ensuring the operation of the company, to explain the basic concepts of work safety and health protection, to describe the legislation of occupational health and safety and categorization of work, and to explain the requirements for the workplace and the working environment.
Students who have successfully completed the course, can orientate in business processes and activities, compile a process map of the economic department; apply criteria for assessing the suitability of organizational structures for a particular enterprise; identify and critically assess hazards and risks within the company; design an optimized work environment for mental work, orientate in the OHS legislation, apply requirements for workplaces and the work environment from the perspective of OHS.
A student who has successfully completed the course is able to coordinate the activities of teams in case studies, designed to solve technical and economic problems; discuss key trends in organizational development and business safety, justify opportunities and threats. |
