Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the actual situation of the European Union law integration and
explain basic institutes of the EU law in more details.
Students will be able to use properly basic terms of the European economic and administrative legislation; understand the interactions between EU law and national laws; independently search and use community law regulations; read correctly practices of the European Court of Justice and understand the gist of them; solve real legal problems related to claiming the freedoms of free movement of goods, people, services and capital.

Requirements on student
|
The assignement is granted upon successful presentation of a written essay (topics are allocated at the beginning of the semester). Further, attendance in seminars is required. The exam consists in a written test fllowed by oral part.

The students should be familiar with basic courses on Introduction to Law (preferably to public law). |
Competences acquired |
Average student who has successfully completed the course can:
explain what are the sources of European Union law, the relations between the different sources and their interactions with the national statutory laws;
clarify the nature of the general principles of EU law;
characterize the institutions of the European Union, including their powers and responsibilities;
justify the need for EU harmonization, and explain the forms and methods of harmonization, application and interpretation of EU law at national and Union level;
compare the various types of actions before the EU Court of Justice, in particular in view of their objective;
explain the essence of the Single Market and legal instruments of the EU's four fundamental freedoms;
distinguish between anti-competitive practices; |
