Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to acquire deeper knowledge and practical skills in otorhinolaryngology. Classical specialized nursing issues are augmented by questions concerning operations, by organizational, social and legal questions, communication with the patient and by nurse-doctor collaboration.

Requirements on student
|
Mastering fundamental examination methods used in otorhinolaryngology (work with a head reflector, otoscopy, pharyngoscopy, rhinoscopy).Compulsory attendance at all the practice sessions and seminars, completing a written exam covering the course, submitting an essay.

Content
|
Lectures and Seminars and Practice (6h lectures/9 h practice/29h self-study): Content: Lectures and Seminars and Practice Symptoms of diseases of the pharynx and nearby structures.Inflammation and oncologic diseases.Nursing care. Symptomatology of diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses.Nursing care. Inflammatory external, middle and inner ear diseases.Hearing impairment. Larynx anatomy and symptomatology of diseases of the larynx, nursing care. Stenosing inflammation of the larynx.Tracheotomy, complications.Psychosocial aspects of patients with a permanent tracheal cannula.Role of the nurse in patient education.Traumatology in ENT.Swallowing foreign bodies, foreign-body aspiration. Chemical burns of the swallowing pathways (first aid, nursing care). Basics of audiology examination (pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustics emissions).
