Course objectives:
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with an introductory framework necessary for the study of further linguistic courses. It presents an overview of the levels of linguistic analysis and introduces the basic notions in the linguistic disciplines dealing with the individual levels.

Competences acquired |
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to distinguish the structural levels of language and perform a rudimentary linguistic analysis. They should also be able to distinguish between language as a system and its actual use in context. In addition, the knowledge acquired in the course will help students to improve their communicative skills. |
