Course objectives:

The aim is to familiarize students with the basic methods of approximation in mathematics and its practical applications.

Requirements on student
|
Credit: succesfully passing of two tests. Exam: teoretical (set of teoretical questions) and practical (set of examples) parts.

Content
|
Errors in numerical calculations. Principles of iterations. Methods of solving systems of linear equations and nonlinear algebraic equations. Approximation and interpolation of functions. The method of least squares. Numerical integration and differentiation. Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations. Eigenvalues and vectors of matrices. Evaluation of experimental data.
