Classification of metals, metallic bond. Oral presentation of a scientific topic. Glasses and glass technology. Ceramics. Tape casting process. Slurry composition and characterization. Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus. Thin films preparation and characterization. How to write structured CW. Thermal evaporation, sputtering and pulsed laser deposition. Materials encyclopaedia. Electron beam evaporation, kinetics, sources. Student's presentation on specific materials science topic. Preparation of essays on materials engineering topics on basis of journal papers reading. Optical properties of solids and their applications. Raman and infrared spectroscopy. Writing summary of the diploma work. Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis and Auger Electron Spectroscopy. Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy. Writing of a scientific journal paper.

The aim of the course with students of the Materials Engineering specialization is to practice the professional English terminology, the principles of writing of scientific papers, the oral presentation of scientific results in active and passive English and in the form of guided discussion.
