Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the principles and technology of terrestrial radio communication systems for the transmission of voice, data, and multimedia signals, and with the gradual implementation of these technologies in telematic applications, including those designed to improve the safety of transportation infrastructure operations. The course is based on an analysis of the principles of data transmission in 2G to 4G networks, which are progressively applied to the use of mobile communication systems for telematic applications. Therefore, the course also covers access networks based on the 802.11x standard and other technologies applicable in intelligent transportation systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
Requirements for Course Credit: - Attendance at lab sessions as required by the instructor (up to 3 absences are typically permitted), - Submission of lab reports (if required) and approval by the instructor, - Submission of computer lab results (if required) and approval by the instructor. Exam requirements: The exam consists of a written and an oral section. Students will be given 2 questions from a published list of exam questions, for which they may prepare answers in advance. The requirements include demonstrating skills in measuring signal characteristics and spectrum parameters using laboratory kits or real signals.
