Data processing, database technology. Architecture of database systems, the relational data model. Approaches towards data modeling. Principles of structural data approach, ER diagrams. Principles of the object modeling, UML. Transformation models of analysis into the relational data model. Normalization of the relational data model. Data demands in database systems, data integrity. Language means, Structured Query Language.

The aim of the course is to deepen theoretical and practical knowledge about database systems. The course Database systems II (in summer term) is the follow-up course to the Database systems I (held in winter term). They are expected basic database knowledge (basic principles of data modelling, basic principles of the relational data model).
Students will be able to solve problems of data modelling in terms of the structural and object-oriented approaches. Furthermore, they will understand designing of normalize relations for relational data models. Students will also learn how to apply a designed model within the relational database, and master basic principles of transaction systems with operational data.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria

Ústní zkouška, Písemná zkouška, Didaktický test, Rozhovor
The assignment is granted elaboration of given tasks; there are made public in the system Moodle at the beginning of semester (information about password is available in the system STAG - Study material (studijní materiály)). The examination consists of two parts, written and oral. It examines theoretical knowledge of presented themes and the student ability of practical task elaboration.
