Obsah předmětu
Sources and system characteristics of the European law. Institutional law of the EU. Basic rights and citizenship of the EU. Judicature of the European Court of Justice. European administrative space. Right of free movement of goods, people, services and capital. European competition law. Legal aspects of consumer protection. Area of freedom, internal security and administration of justice.

Výstupy z učení
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the actual situation of the European Union law integration and explain basic institutes of the EU law in more details. Students will be able to use properly basic terms of the European economic and administrative legislation; understand the interactions between EU law and national laws; independently search and use community law regulations; read correctly practices of the European Court of Justice and understand the gist of them; solve real legal problems related to claiming the freedoms of free movement of goods, people, services and capital.
Average student who has successfully completed the course can: explain what are the sources of European Union law, the relations between the different sources and their interactions with the national statutory laws; clarify the nature of the general principles of EU law; characterize the institutions of the European Union, including their powers and responsibilities; justify the need for EU harmonization, and explain the forms and methods of harmonization, application and interpretation of EU law at national and Union level; compare the various types of actions before the EU Court of Justice, in particular in view of their objective; explain the essence of the Single Market and legal instruments of the EU's four fundamental freedoms; distinguish between anti-competitive practices; Average student who has successfully completed the course is able to: to seek and apply EU law sources independently; interpret clearly a simple judgment of the EU Court of Justice, including its implications for the Member States; recognize a fundamental breach of European Union law in selected areas (in particular competition) and propose ways to eliminate it; practically solve real legal problems, which are concerned with claiming rights arising from the freedom of movement of goods, persons, services and capital. Average student who has successfully completed the course is capable of: including a consideration of legal dimension of a particular issue in problem solving; communication of information on the nature of professional issues and their own opinion on solution thereof in a clear and convincing way to both professionals and lay people. characterization of the Union's consumer protection policy and the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice; summarize the nature of current developments in European administrative law.
Předpoklady
The students should be familiar with basic courses on Introduction to Law (preferably to public law).

Písemná zkouška, Posouzení zadané práce, Analýza výkonu studenta

The assignement is granted upon successful presentation of a written essay (topics are allocated at the beginning of the semester). Further, attendance in seminars is required. The exam consists in a written test fllowed by oral part.
