Závěrečná zkouška je založena na analýze autentického anglického textu a jejím cílem je, aby studenti prokázali schopnost své teoretické vědomosti z jednotlivých lingvistických disciplín prakticky aplikovat a objasnit v kontextu vybraného textu. Analýza textu se soustředí na všechny roviny jazykového sytému, zejména morfo-syntaktickou, lexiko-sémantickou a textovou, dále na porovnání jazykových systémů angličtiny a češtiny a diskusi poznatků z oblasti stylistiky, pragmatiky, sociolingvistiky a textové lingvistiky a korpusové lingvistiky.
