Course content |
Analysis of religion, its socialization/individualization and institutionalization. Development of a position of religion in the contemporary Czech Republic till 1989-1990. Position of religion in the Czech Republic, according to the census and surveys of religiozity. Position of religion in EU countries and in other chosen countries. Juridical norms concerning religion. Religions and political programs. Religious extremism as a factor of international and inner conflicts. Religion and education - history and at the present. Religious periodicals. Religion and non-periodical literature. Religion in electronic media.

The objective of this course is the orientation in the area of contacts between religious organisations and state and also strenghtening the intercultural tolerance in our pluralist society.
The students will gain some competence in the areas of legislation and public management that are concerned with religion, as well as some ability to understand the connections between religion and politics, and also between religion and journalism. |

Assessment methods and criteria |
Didactic test
There will be a written exam consisting of multiple-choice questions concerned with the topics covered during lectures. Students are also obliged to bring annotations of at least four titles from the recommended literature. Good-quality annotations for more than four titles can improve a student's grade from the exam. |
