Course content
Securing access into the vascular system (central venous catheter, intraosseous vascular access, peripheral venous catheter, dialysis catheter, arterial cannulation), elimination techniques. Securing airways (available aids, assistance in intubation), providing oxygen in pre-hospital care and in Emergency department (moistening, suction, broncho-alveolar lavage). Tracheostomy - preparation of instruments, assistance, follow-up care about tracheostomic cannula. Invasive sections management. Monitoring of a patient in pre-hospital emergency care and in Emergency department (arterial catheter, measurement of intracranial pressure, mean arterial pressure and mean pulmonary artery pressure). Arterial blood sampling and arterial cannulation (radial artery and femoral artery). Draining and needle puncture.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the subject is to broaden knowledge and to improve skills acquired in the subject of Nursing procedures with a focus on special nursing procedures in pre-hospital care and intensive care, to get acquainted with relevant equipment and their instructions.
Student will have both a theoretical knowledge and practical skills of performing special nursing procedures correctly in compliance with nursing standards and respecting individual needs of the patient. Students will be familiar with equipment and materials essential for performing the particular nursing procedures and will know how to use them.
