Course content
|
Maps and their geodesic and cartographic fundamentals. Map legends. NATO standard for military map marking symbols. Military maps and their preparation and management. Global Positioning System (GPS). Development of map documents using a PC.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to gain basic knowledge of work with maps using navigational tools and GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers.
The student knows and is able to use the following tools: cartographic products, geographic information systems, and GPS technology while searching for and removing patients from unfamiliar terrain.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures, practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test.
