Course content
Fundamentals of neurophysiology. The importance of stimulation techniques in the nursing practice. The basic elements of the concept of Basal stimulation and its history. Selected health topics in medicine and psychology related to the application of the concept. Autobiographical history. Initial touch. Somatic stimulation. Alternative ways of washing. Massage stimulating breathing, contact breathing. Positioning and micro-positioning. Vibratory stimulation. Optical and orofacial stimulation. Auditory and olfactory stimulation. Tactile and haptic stimulation. Fundamentals of orofacial regulatory therapy. Fundamentals of synergetic reflex therapy. Practical verification in a selected clinical workplace.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basic stimulation techniques, such as basal stimulation, orofacial regulatory therapy, and synergetic reflex therapy, their history and the current situation in the Czech Republic.
The student will be able to use basic techniques of individual elements of the concept of basal stimulation and will be able to refer clients to centres active in the area of orofacial regulatory therapy and synergetic reflex therapy.
