Course content
Introduction to the issue of AAC. Characteristics of potential users of AAC. Classification of AAC systems and methods. Communication through objects, pictures, photographs, and pictograms. The use of the Bliss symbols in communication with people with a health disability. Exchange communication system - PECS. Makaton. Sign into speech. Application of communication systems on the basis of ACC by the deaf-blind. The use of special SW in the area of AAC. Facilitating PC control by AAC users. Usability of the AAC system from the historical point of view. Special features of potential users of AAC. Diagnostic criteria for selecting the AAC system. Methodology for implementing the AAC system in the activities of daily living of people with a health disability. Creation of communication tables. PECS - training methodology I. Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the theory and practice of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), the characteristics of the potential users, classification and characteristics of selected AAC methods, and also with the practical use of the various AAC methods in practice.

Prerequisites
The student knows the theory of AAC and is able to practically apply selected AAC methods in specific user situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% active attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of an oral examination.
