Course content
Organization of physical assessment, preparation for PA, basic procedures, and a plan of PA. Assessment of the overall condition of the patient. Assessment of the head and neck. Fundamentals of neurological assessment. Screening methods in neurology. Physical assessment of the skin and peripheral circulation. Assessment of the chest. Assessment of the abdomen and genitals. Musculoskeletal assessment. Assessment of children, pregnant women, and seniors. Assessment of the functional status, plan of care, multidisciplinary cooperation, and documentation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the principles of physical assessment (PA) in nursing and basic principles of using physical assessment in practice.
Students acquire systematic knowledge and skills from the field of physical assessment (PA) of the patient, know principles of the procedures used in PA of individual body systems and principles of the procedures used in the overall "head-to-toe" PA. They are able to use the acquired knowledge and skills in the nursing process. They plan patient care based on the performed PA.

Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions. Completing assigned written work. Successful completion of an oral examination.
