  • Preparation for a final test - 14 hours per semester
  • Participation in classes - 14 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course is designed to familiarize students with the principles of modern communication equipment, focusing primarily on the design and system-level solutions for contemporary radio transmitters, receivers, and antenna systems. Participants' knowledge is deepened primarily in the areas of high-frequency receiver and transmitter design from the perspective of block diagrams, linear and nonlinear distortion, and the characteristics of the oscillators used. Last but not least, students are introduced to the design of antenna elements, the synthesis of antenna arrays, and the principles of measuring antenna system parameters.
Graduates will gain knowledge in the design of components of the radio communication chain. Specifically, this involves transmitter, receiver, and antenna system blocks. They will be able to analyze the necessary requirements for the individual components of the radio communication chain, eliminate the effects of unwanted distortion, and appropriately select frequency bands for frequency conversion. Furthermore, graduates will be able to design planar antenna elements, synthesize antenna arrays and fields, will be familiar with the basics of their optimization using CST MW Studio software, and will also be able to measure basic antenna parameters.
Prerequisites
Before the skills assessment, the candidate must be familiarized with the workplace and with occupational safety and health requirements and fire safety regulations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Before the skills assessment, the candidate must be familiarized with the workplace and with safety rules and health requirements and fire safety regulations. The course consists of self-study and a practical component, culminating in a knowledge assessment.
