Course content |
History of pulp and paper production. The raw materials for paper fibers production. Wood as basic resource for pulps production - its occurrence, properties, structure, composition. Wood preparation before production of paper fibers - haul up, barking, chip screening, organization of log storage. Principles and technology of high-yield pulps - groudwoods, pressure groundwood,TMP, CTMP, CMP, BCTMP, APMP, XTMP. Teh influence of physical, hypermolecular, chemical, biochemical, photochemical action upon wood with aim paper fibers production. Principles and technology of chemical pulps production. Chemistry of alkaline (sulphate), neutral (NSSC) and acid (sulphite) cooking processes - mechamisms of delignification and hydrolysis reactions, selectivity and diferences of multistage cooking processes, kinetic and control of cooking processes. Modern cooking processes - Super Batch, Enerbatch,RDM, MCC, Organosolve processes. Pulp bleaching - chemistry and technology of classical bleaching processes based on chlorine and modern procedures based on oxygen compounds. Washing, sorting, screening and cleaning of pulps. Cooking chemicals regeneration and cooking liquer recovery. Byproducts. Environmental and safety conditions of pulp production. Properties of pulps and other paper fibers - evaluation of mechanical, chemical and optical properties, explanation of their behaviour.
