Course content
Description of the sample. Determination of physical constants. Classification of solubility. Elemental analysis. Classification reactions of functional groups. Preparation of derivatives for identification purposes. Determination of melting point of derivatives. Measurement and interpretation of UV and IR spectra. Analysis and identification of compounds using separation techniques (HPLC, GC, TLC). Analysis of bifunctional compounds and esters.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to combine knowledge of classical and instrumental analytical methods and practice it on analysis of organic substances or mixtures.
The course is logical completion of work in the laboratory before elaboration of the thesis. Students will apply their knowledge of preparative organic chemistry, separation techniques and spectral techniques on analysis of organic compounds and mixtures.
Prerequisites
Knowledges of analytical, physical (and organic) chemistry on the bachelor degree level.
