Course content
Theoretical input: Prevention of bullying at school; Burn-out syndrome and how to prevent it. Professional learning, interventions into processes of professional learning, reflective strategies and techniques. Cooperation with the mentor. Getting ready for the teaching practice. Competence Profile of an English Teacher.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
  • Contact teaching - 26 hours per semester
  • Independent critical reading - 30 hours per semester
  • Data/material collection - 10 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 14 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a credit (assessment) - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Reflective Didactic Seminar is closely linked with the teaching practice. The aim of the course is to enhance the development of (self)reflective strategies and techniques by analysing and reflecting the experience on the basis of the knowledge base for teaching. The aim of these processes is to facilitate explicit building and forming students´ individual ´philosophies´ of instruction.
The seminar reflects students' needs in their professional development, helps them develop related professional skills, supports the development of students´ professional competence and thus facilitates students' growing competence.

Assessment methods and criteria
Discussion, Student portfolio analysis

1. Participation in seminars (1 missed class tolerated) 2. An interview based on the materials that the students are required to submit: - an essay "I as a future English teacher" - deadline for submission (Moodle): October 31, 2025 - self-assessment of their teaching practice performance using The Competence Profile of the English Teacher - students submit a filled-in form by November 25, 2025 (Moodle)
