Course content
Geography and political system. Environmental politics in the German-speaking countries. Foreigners in Switzerland and Austria. Switzerland and Austria - industry. Educational and social politics. Language differences in Switzerland and Austria. Role of women in Switzerland. Movies in Austria and Switzerland VIP in the German-speaking countries. Music in the German-speaking countries.

Learning outcomes
Students will become familiar with various aspects of culture and the knowledge is subsequently applied on particular regions and culture of Austria and Switzerland.
Students will not only be familiar with the facts regarding Austrian and Swiss realia but also will be able to identify and characterize individual cultural aspects of that region.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Active participation in the preparation and realization of the educational excursion to Leipzig. Completion of written assignment (content and language accuracy required). Presentation. Final test covering all the German-speaking countries (min. 70%). 80% attendance at the seminars.
