Course content
Introduction to morphology. Morphological and syntactic characteristics of verbs. Temporal expressions and their function in German. Mode, use and functions of conjunctive. Voice, periphrastic ways of expressing the passive voice. Participles and participial constructions. Modal verbs expressing subjective and objective statements. Expressing supposition in German. Articles in German. Declination of nouns. Declination of words of foreign origin and geographical nouns. Number of nouns. Declination and inflection of adjectives. Numerals and their declination. Pronouns.

Learning outcomes
Contrastive grammar course - part I - morphology is to present theoretical review of word formation of above all flective word categories with regard to the contrastive aspects Czech - German. Based on academic studying materials students will practically develop theoretical knowledge of grammar structures.
Students will gain certainity in grammar structures, will gain ability of contrastive comparison of languages, will learn how to work with academic literature and will actively use academic terminology. They will be able to translate grammar issues from Czech to German and vise versa.

Successful pass in JNC1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

80% active participation in seminars, presentation on a given topic (to be handed in also in the written form). Written test.
