Learning outcomes |
The goal of this course is to show the basic periods in the development of thought - from Ancient times till today - not as so called "progress of thought", but as partizipation on the basic problems of human beings and their placement in history. The main emphasis will be put on the problems of modern analyses of historicism and tradition: on the importance of understandig the past for the understanding of present.
Students will develop their abilities to critically think and evaluate texts, especially with the goal to understand what it means existentially to experience historicity. They will be competent more in evaluation of the foundations of their own discipline. |

Didactic test, Discussion
Student will elaborate seminar paper (cca 10 pages) on the Patočka's book Heretical Essays in the Philosophy of History. This paper will be controled by examinator ten days before the date of examination. |
