Course content
1. Ivan Vazov, Aleko Konstantinov 2. The signs of the modern poetic tendency - Yavorov, Debelyanov 3. Elin Pelin's realism 4. The literature between the two world wars: the poets Hristo Smirnenski, Geo Milev, Atanas Dalchev, Nikola Vaptsarov, Yordan Yovkov?s prose and the drama 5. The literature after the world war II the novels of D. Dimov, V. Paskov, G. Markov, the poesy of K. Pavlov 6. The modern Bulgarian prose: G. Gospodinov, A. Popov, Teodora Dimova

Learning outcomes
The purpose is to get the students familiar with specific texts from the Bulgarian 20th century literature and the possible methods for analysis and interpretation of the texts. The text choice is from one hand related with their literary- historic connection and from the other hand with their stylistic specifics so that the subject may present different literature styles and genres (poetry and prose). The texts will be read and interpreted in original with which the subject will considerably lead to expansion of the verbal vocabulary and the language study of the students as a whole.
The students will be familiarized with text from Bulgarian 20th century literature as well as the literary-historic context by their emerging. Working with texts in Bulgarian will expand their vocabulary with literature terms.
